There is a lot of discussion about the use of biomass and especially about the questions about whether it is really sustainable and do we have enough to meet all needs?
What is the effect on the soil, air quality and biodiversity and how does it contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions?
By exposing the entire chain - from the origin of the biomass to the processing method - insight is gained into the degree of sustainability of the biomass. The Netherlands follows a stricter line than the EU and has set additional criteria to guarantee sustainability. Currently this only applies to generating energy, but soon these criteria will also apply to the production of products using biomass.
