Biobased Value Chains

Interreg Project BIVAC (Biobased Value Chains) is about residual flows from agriculture, horticulture, forestry and the food industry. The targeted products include new, health-promoting additives for animal feed, fermentable sugars for the production of the valuable substance astaxanthin, enzymatically refined/optimized animal feed additives and tannin.

Energy and Raw Materials Factory

The Brabantse Delta Water Board, together with other water partners, makes biodegradable plastic from wastewater. The story is of course a lot more complex, but that's basically what it comes down to. Sewage and waste water that supplies new raw materials after purification.

BWI Eneco Lage Weide

To take the sustainability of heat generation in the municipalities of Utrecht and Nieuwegein to a higher level, Eneco has realized the BioHeat Installation Lage Weide (BWI). The bioheat plant processes Dutch residual flows of wood (biomass), which are converted into sustainable district heat.

Heat installations on sustainable biomass are virtually climate neutral. This is currently the most feasible technology to make a city's heat demand sustainable. For Eneco it is a first major step towards more sustainable district heating.

Paper producer Parenco produces steam in its own biomass power plant

Paper manufacturer Parenco from Renkum is making its production process more sustainable by replacing natural gas with renewable energy from biomass. To this end, the company invested in its own biomass power plant.

Bio-Energy Centrale Cuijk

The Bio-Energie Centrale Cuijk is the proud supplier of green energy and sustainable heat to the industry in our working area. Our energy sources are pruning wood residues, demolition wood and paper sludge from the environment, material for which there is no other useful purpose. BECC complies with the strictest emission standards so that the environment benefits from us but does not suffer from us. We are proud of our leading position in making Northeast Brabant more sustainable. Our mission: make the entire industrial estate in Cuijk climate neutral by 2030 at the latest.

FrieslandCampina makes production process more sustainable with bioenergy

Dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina uses biogas to generate steam. Groot Zevert Vergisting from nearby Beltrum generates the gas for the dairy company's Borculo location. This is supplied via a biogas pipeline.
