ReFuels has acquired Bio Energie Holwerd. This acquisition aligns with its strategy to integrate production, certification, and supply into a single supply chain. The acquisition is being handled through Renewable Transport Fuel Services, a subsidiary of CNG Fuels in which ReFuels holds a 40% stake.
The Holwerd site has been operating since 2014. The plant produces XNUMX gigawatt hours of biomethane annually from waste streams. The gas is fed into the grid and is eligible for British Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates.
Local management will remain on-site. ReFuels is exploring optimization and potential expansion within the permit period.
On the sales side, CNG Fuels serves more than two thousand trucks in the United Kingdom. The company expects to supply approximately one terawatt-hour of Bio CNG by the 2025 calendar year and aims to double its daily capacity by the end of 2028. The acquisition gives ReFuels greater control over the source, in addition to its network of fuel stations.
