Good news for homeowners and companies who want to make their homes or buildings more sustainable: as of today, subsidies can once again be applied for via the Investment Subsidy for Sustainable Energy and Energy Conservation (ISDE). With an increased budget of 600 million euros, an increase of 40 million euros compared to last year, the scheme has been further expanded and made more accessible. The subsidy supports investments in insulation, (hybrid) heat pumps and other sustainable energy measures.
What does the ISDE offer?
The ISDE subsidy is available to homeowners and companies who want to invest in:
- Insulation (including biobased environmentally friendly insulation materials such as wood, fibre hemp and flax).
- (Hybrid) heat pumps with a minimum energy label A++ (A+++ heat pumps receive an additional subsidy bonus of €225).
- solar water heaters.
- Electric cooking facilities or a connection to the heating network.
- Small windmills (for business users).
In 2023, more than 200.000 homeowners made use of this subsidy. The increased budget should meet the increasing demand in 2024.
Accessibility for monumental homes improved
An important change in 2024 concerns the relaxation of the requirements for monumental homes. Due to the restrictions surrounding the preservation of the monumental character, owners of these homes were often unable to use the ISDE. The new regulation relaxes the minimum insulation values and lowers the minimum dimensions for glass insulation. This makes sustainability for monumental homes easier and more attractive.
Additional incentive for biobased insulation materials
Biobased insulation materials, such as wood and flax, are sustainably produced but often more expensive than traditional materials. In order to stimulate the use of environmentally friendly alternatives, the ISDE offers an additional subsidy per square meter for these materials. This contributes to a more sustainable construction sector and energy savings in the long term.
Stricter requirements for heat pumps
From 2024, only heat pumps with energy label A++ or higher will be eligible for subsidy. This is in line with the ambition to increase the sustainability of installed systems. Heat pumps with label A+++ will receive an additional bonus. These stricter requirements do not apply to heat pump boilers and systems with a thermal capacity of 71 kW or more.
Subsidy applications via RVO
The subsidy application can be submitted to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). In addition to private individuals, rental homes and buildings that are part of a VvE can also use the scheme.
