In the context of the 125th anniversary of Staatsbosbeheer, a special autumn debate will be organized on Thursday 17 October at Kasteel Groeneveld in Baarn. This debate, which will run from 16.00:19.00 to XNUMX:XNUMX, will revolve around an important question: is a second Veluwe needed to support the raw materials transition in the Netherlands?
During this inspiring and enthusiastic anniversary meeting, several short lectures, interviews and debates will be held on the role of natural resources in the future. It is not only about a fossil-free energy supply, but also about the transition to low-carbon materials and raw materials for sectors such as chemistry and construction. The Netherlands, with its large chemical industry, can play a pioneering role in this change, with wood as a promising bio-based raw material.
Under the leadership of experts such as Gert-Jan Gruter (Avantium, special professor at the UvA), Maarten Hajer (professor Urban Futures at Utrecht University), Marjan Minnesma (director Urgenda), Nienke Homan (chair VNCI) and Zwier van Olst (Staatsbosbeheer) concrete solutions are being sought for a low-carbon future. The speakers will address the question of whether more space should be created for forests and wood production in order to meet the growing demand for sustainable raw materials.
In addition to the substantive debates, there is also room for relaxation with live music by the trio around Maaike Girardin. Language artist Frank van Pamelen ensures an unforgettable conclusion to the meeting.
