If you are looking for bioaromatic samples (derived from sugar or lignin) to test in your products and/or if you could use application development support ranging from feasibility studies to prototype/pilot scale, BIO-CAPPP offers project SME innovation vouchers to support your innovations.
BIO-CAPPP project partners VITO, Centexbel and TNO can award the following vouchers:
- Voucher 1 worth €10.000 to estimate the feasibility of raw materials/applications for SMEs.
- Voucher 2 worth €20.000 for assessing the feasibility and proof of concept of raw materials/applications for SMEs.
- Voucher 3 worth €50.000 for conducting effective large-scale testing for first prototype applications.
The voucher process begins with an exploratory meeting in which the details of the voucher system and the scope of the project are discussed. SMEs located in the Interreg VL-NL program area (see image below) who would like to discuss the possibilities of this voucher scheme can express their interest by sending an email to vouchersbiocappp@vito.be.
BIO-CAPPP: Biorizon Center for Applications & Products with Premium Properties

The BIO-CAPPP project will develop and apply renewable aromatics in concrete products together with companies, experts and students. Together, the project partners will enable the commercial production of bio-aromatics and stimulate the market for sustainable products with high-quality properties.
In the Biorizon Application Center, SMEs can collaborate with experts and students on favorable terms to apply bio-aromatics in products for the construction and textile sectors, among others. The bio-aromatics not only make these products more sustainable, but also more functional with high-quality properties.
In addition, the partners anchor the developed knowledge and skills in educational programs, so that the employees of the future can put sustainable innovations into practice in companies.
Partners from Flanders and the Netherlands work intensively together in the BIO-CAPPP project.
Project leader VITO from Flanders and TNO from the Netherlands have been working together since 2013 on the technological development of bio-aromatics from sugars, lignin and unrefined waste streams under the banner of Shared Research Center Biorizon. The Flemish CENTEXBEL and Avans Hogeschool / MNEXT from the Netherlands will collaborate with VITO to develop innovative applications based on the building blocks derived from lignin and sugar, with a specific focus on the construction and textile sectors. Kamp C from Flanders will inform, inspire and support end users, the construction sector and local authorities in the use of sustainable innovations. The Green Chemistry Campus is the central meeting place of the project where entrepreneurs, governments and knowledge institutions work together to scale up biobased and circular innovations and where citizens can experience the transition in the experience center.
