All products we make and use are made from raw materials. Most of these are still fossils. To become a sustainable society, this must change. We must obtain components that are renewable and that nature can bring us year after year.
This switch from fossil to plant material (or: biomass) must also be done in a responsible manner. To stimulate this transition, the Northern Netherlands Industry Table (INN) has drawn up a plan.
Producing with biomass is indispensable in the picture of a sustainable society. After all, plant material is the only alternative to fossil raw materials. At the same time, there is controversy surrounding the use of biomass by industry and there is social discussion about what a bioeconomy should look like.
INN has drawn up an agenda to properly drive the bio-raw materials transition in the Northern Netherlands. This outlines a number of pillars on how the industry can properly use biomass.
