The global transition to clean energy will deliver enormous opportunities and benefits for our communities, workers and industry. The many types of clean energy will be critical in helping us emerge from the triple global crises of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and an energy security crisis where we have weaponized energy.
The location itself, Pittsburgh, is important. As Secretary Granholm put it, the Steel City of Pittsburgh is “a city that exemplifies how an old energy and industry-dependent economy can be transformed into a technology and innovation powerhouse.”
The US will host the very first in September in Pittsburgh Global Clean Energy Action Forum , a joint meeting of the 13th Ministerial meeting for clean energy and the 7th Ministerial Mission for Innovation. Governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia, innovators, civil society and early career researchers and policymakers will come together in a three-day event featuring a plenary, high-level, topical roundtable discussions with Energy and Science Ministers from 31 countries, CEOs and experts, side events, technology demonstrations and other activities.
The Global Clean Energy Action Forum comes at a crucial time. We are on the cusp of the most important transition human society has ever seen, and we must look back to 2022, the year the world took giant steps to build a new energy economy that benefits all, improve climate change, and reap the benefits of a clean energy market that will exceed $23 trillion by the end of this decade.
Secretary Granholm challenges the international energy community to address the energy transition and join her on September 21 in Pittsburgh for the Global Clean Energy Action Forum. Are YOU up to the challenge? Register to join her.
