Trade-offs and considerations of different interests are unavoidable in order to achieve the Dutch climate goals. Rejecting several options such as CCS, biomass and nuclear energy makes climate goals unattainable.
This is stated by Minister Rob Jetten for Climate and Energy in the government's appreciation of the latest reports from the UN climate panel. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published the second, third and final parts of its latest climate report in February and April. In the final part, the IPCC states that the aim to limit global warming to 1,5 degrees Celsius will disappear unless countries collectively show more ambition and take immediate action.
