Innovative projects that lead to less CO2emissions are desperately needed to achieve the energy transition (transition to sustainable energy). Entrepreneurs sometimes encounter high start-up costs. The Renewable Energy Transition (HER+) subsidy can make the difference in allowing local projects to continue in that phase.
The HER+ subsidy scheme is open until March 31, 2022, 17:00 PM. The budget is €50 million. There is still sufficient budget available for new applications.
Green gas with the HER+
An example of such a local project where the HER+ subsidy made a difference is the mono-fermentation installation of Landbouwbedrijf GroeneWoudGas. This installation converts fresh manure into green gas. A dairy farmer set up this project together with a biogas producer and about 15 other dairy farmers. The subsidy covered the high costs in the start-up phase that the dairy farmer could otherwise hardly afford.
Because there are about 3000 m3 green gas enters the gas network every day, a lot of CO₂ emissions are avoided locally. Annually, production is sufficient to supply 750 households in Sint-Oedenrode, Nijnsel, Olland and Boskant with gas.
Budget still available
On January 24, 2022, there was still more than 37 million budget available. There is still plenty of room for new applications. This subsidy is on a first come, first served basis. When the budget runs out, the scheme stops.
Renewable Energy Transition Subsidy (HER+)
The HER+ looks at CO2-reduction instead of just towards renewable energy production. The HER+ projects should help achieve the climate goals in 2030. These savings must be greater than the subsidy that the entrepreneur has applied for for the project. Entrepreneurs can still apply until March 31, 17:00 PM.
